Senior Spotlight: Liv DiNapoli

Each week we will feature one or two of our fantastic senior members of the Cross Country team.

Liv with teammates Katherine, Amber, Mirren, and Clarice

This week's feature is Liv DiNapoli. Liv joined the cross country team as a junior and has been a pleasure to work with both years. In her first year, Liv knocked more than 4 minutes off of her 5k time. As a model of hard work, Liv quietly impresses and motivates the team with her dedication to the sport, all while lightening the mood with her sense of humor!

Let's learn a little more about Liv!

Years Running Cross Country:

2 years (22-23 and 23-24). I started my junior year.

PRs:

XC 33:11 (Woodgrove Junior year)

A few favorite moments from meets or practice....

My favorite moments from meets are just cheering everyone on during their race time and getting to goof around and spend time with everyone. Also the RVA relays and team campouts!

Most embarrassing XC moment?

*Liv listed no embarrassing moments. We need to work harder to embarrass her.*

If you could pick a Quote of the Week, what would it be?

“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” This can apply to everything, even running. If you don’t push yourself or you don’t try, you’ll never know the good that can come from it.

Impart some wisdom on our younger or future runners....what should they know?

Learn how to pace. Don’t go out on your runs or races to fast or too slow.

Favorite or most influential teacher (from any year, K-12), why?

My English teacher junior year, Mr. Humenik. He really pushed me academically and I feel like that made me a stronger person and more mentally tough.

Current/possible plans for next year?

College!

If you could have dinner with anyone (alive or from the past) who would it be and why?

Christian Bale. He’s my favorite actor and I feel like he would be a cool dude to talk too.

Do you have a song that gets you pumped up for racing? If so, which song? If not, what does get you pumped up?

I don’t listen to music before racing really. Usually what gets me pumped is just seeing everyone else run and talking to my teammates and giving pep talks.

Toughest or favorite workout?

Toughest workout is definitely Blue Ridge Middle School. Favorites are the track workouts.

Who would you like to thank for your journey through LVHS?

Mirren! And my coaches, obviously. All 3 of these people have pushed me to be become a better runner and definitely created a friendly, warm, and welcoming environment my first year on the team.
